HENDRICKS COUNTY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MANAGERS PASS NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAM

AVON, IN - Becky Harris, Property Manager/Real Estate Broker and Susan Webb, Property Manager/Real Estate Broker of Homes&Homesites, Inc., have each been named a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM). Becky and Susan join more than 7,000 CMCA certificants nationwide who have demonstrated the professional knowledge that is so important for managing condominium and homeowner associations and cooperatives.

Homes&Homesites, Inc. is a boutique property management and real estate company located in Hendricks County. Their mission is to promote a strong sense of community and to maintain clear lines of communication between homeowners and management. They assume the day-to-day responsibility of their Association's business by conducting regular property inspections, selecting and monitoring vendor activity, safeguarding operating and reserve funds, and enforcing compliance with the Association's governing documents.

To obtain and maintain the CMCA credential, a manager must complete comprehensive course work, pass a National Certification Examination, adhere to the CMCA Standards of Professional Conduct, and take continuing education courses to recertify.

NBC-CAM is the first and only nationwide organization created solely to certify community association managers and to help consumers identify managers who have demonstrated fundamental competency and knowledge in this profession. With the dramatic increase in association-governed housing over the past 35 years (10,000 community associations in 1970 versus and estimated 286,000 today), there is an expanded need for education in community association management. Fifty-seven million Americans live in association-governed communities.

Professional managers provide administrative, operation and managerial counsel to community association boards. They typically are responsible for managing budgets and contractors, directing association personnel, and overseeing compliance with association covenants and restrictions.

NBC-CAM was established in 1995 by Community Associations Institute (CAI) to ensure that managers have the appropriate skills to effectively manage community associations.

CAI and its more than 50 state, regional, and local chapters work on behalf of the professionals and volunteers engaged in the management and governance of homeowner and condominium associations, cooperatives, and other planned communities. CAI's more than 28,000 members include community association volunteer leaders, managers, management companies, and businesses that provide products and services to these communities. Homes&Homesites named Business Category winner of Hendricks Regional Health’s Treat People Better Awards

Avon-based Homes&Homesites recently won the 2005 Treat People Better Award for businesses for spearheading a food drive to benefit Hendricks County food pantries.

The award and recognition dinner at Primo Banquet Hall in Plainfield on Dec. 7 was sponsored by Hendricks Regional Health. Indianapolis Colts vice president Tom Zupancic and linebacker David Thornton were on hand to honor winners and finalists.

In addition to a trophy, winners received a $500 donation from Hendricks Regional Health to the charity of their choice.

“We didn’t do the food drive to win an award, but we’re very honored to have received it,” Webb says.

Harris, echoing her partner’s sentiments, says, “What made it great was that we got to see all the finalists and be aware that there are so many people working behind the scenes to make contributions in Hendricks County. It was enjoyable to see others nominated and receive awards.”

Food pantries are in dire need of donations to help stock their shelves for the winter months. There is a food shortage in Hendricks County and some of the pantries may have to close. All donations received during the home tour will be divided among five local food pantries.

“Organizing the home tour as a charitable event is our way of bringing attention to the local food pantries and their need for donations,” said Becky Harris, Homes & Homesites. “We felt by tying the two together, we could serve as a unified voice to help increase awareness of the need to donate.”
